How To Make A Home Moving Checklist



A home moving checklist can make it easier to manage your next move. When you put together a list of things to do, organize it by grouping specific goals into separate time periods. You may need to include some or all of the following tasks...

Two months before leaving: Talk to acquaintances and perform online research to find a desirable moving service. Learn more about the city or town you are relocating to.

50 days beforehand: Write down the name of each organization that needs to know about your new address. Request quotes from moving firms or compare prices at different truck rental agencies. Research moving insurance policies.

40 days: To save time and cut your expenses, begin selling or giving away unneeded items. Pack belongings that you seldom use, such as holiday decorations. Notify your kids' school about the upcoming move.

35 days: Reduce shopping and avoid purchasing very large packages of food. Try to consume all remaining frozen items. Buy packing supplies, such as tape, padding, labels, cardboard boxes and markers. Tell local friends that you intend to move.

One month beforehand: Notify financial institutions, service providers and the postal service of your address change. Consider asking your employer for a short vacation during the relocation process. Hire a reputable moving company.

20 days: Perform a home inventory; take photos of valuable items and write down their serial numbers. This will help you initiate any insurance claims. Stop newspaper deliveries to your current address. Pack items that you occasionally use.

10 days: Continue packing all but the essentials. If necessary, make sure that you have the appropriate insurance for your move. Obtain cash that you can give to moving company staff as tips.

Final week: Disconnect the utilities, finish packing and put the remaining essentials in suitcases. Thoroughly clean your house, and donate or discard any unwanted items that remain in the home.

Getting plenty of quality sleep will counteract the stress of what ever your daily life brings. It sounds simple enough, but most people fail to get enough basic sleep let alone quality sleep and that is the way your body recovers from your hard day at work, keeping after the children or the million other ways you spend your waking time!

A great tip that can help you keep stress down is to turn off the television. Studies have shown that watching television actually increases our stress levels. You don't have to stop watching it completely but you should definitely limit how much television you're going to watch everyday.

Unclench your jaw and try to avoid grinding your teeth together. The jaw is a very common place to carry stress, usually in the form of a clenched jaw. If you feel too stressed, touch your jaw, breath deeply, and then release your jaw. Doing this exercise should help you feel better quickly.

Aromatherapy can be a very effective means of managing stress. Certain things can be soothing when you smell them. You can smell chamomile, lavender, peppermint and rose to soothe your senses for example. All you need to do is put some rock salt and a few drops of oil in a vial. If you begin to feel stressed, simply open your vial and smell the contents for a quick aromatherapy treatment.
